KYOS Energy Consulting BV (KYOS), a leading provider of analytical models for the energy sector, is pleased to announce its collaboration with German energy company MVV Energie AG (MVV). As part of this partnership, KYOS will provide MVV with access to its cutting-edge KyBattery software platform, revolutionizing the assessment of the value of battery energy storage assets.
The KyBattery model leverages advanced Monte Carlo simulation techniques and realistic trading strategies to analyse future revenues of a battery energy storage asset. KyBattery allows MVV to assess business cases of energy storage assets, both stand-alone and co-located with renewable generation assets. KYOS actively supports MVV with the usage of the system with its dedicated quant and market analysis team.
MVV chose the KYOS KyBattery model for its flexibility. Typical battery constraints, including cycle limits, degradation curves and round-trip efficiencies are included for easy assessment of the expected value of different battery configurations. In addition, MVV values the built-in simulation engine KySim which generates accurate simulations of wholesale market and balancing prices, jointly with simulations of renewable production. The performance of the model can be validated by running historical backtests against realized prices.
MVV recognizes the critical role of energy storage in the transition to renewable energy sources. “By adopting KyBattery, we aim to challenge our in-house battery optimization and revenue stream forecast tools,” said Dr. Jan Brübach of MVV Trading. “That’s crucial for scaling up our energy storage portfolio , and for contributing to a climate positive energy future.” MVV is committed to a strategic course that will make the company climate positive by 2035. Therefor MVV is consistently promoting the heat transition, the electricity transition and the associated expansion in renewable generation methods, as well as green solutions for customers.
“We are excited to partner with MVV,” said Cyriel de Jong, CEO of KYOS. “The KyBattery model empowers companies to make informed investment decisions, maximize returns, and support the global energy transition.”
